Hyenas ready to tear me apart,
Manipulative smiles meant to beguile.
Lowering my guard, a knife to my heart,
I’m nothing to them, just one to revile.
Mouths fabricating rumors, phony friends,
Amidst betrayal, allies become foes.
Being used as just a means to their ends,
Karma will remind them the path they chose.
Too many behave as if they don’t care,
They borrow your soul, return it broken.
Burdening others until they can’t bear,
Any consideration unspoken.
Without so much as any second thought,
Decisive loss in a battle not fought.
“We have to distrust each other. It is our only defense against betrayal.” ~ Tennessee Williams
